South Indian actress Asin made it all happen with her overnight success in Bollywood with Ghajini. With her London Dreams slated to hit the screens this weekend, the actress has got hold off some troubles that are popping up. Apparently, it’s all about the producers and filmmakers of Hindi film industry urging her to expose to glamorous shows and intimate sequences with her onscreen heroes.
Perhaps, the actress has been stuck to the rigid rules of not entertaining such factors from the moment she made high waves in South Indian Film Industry. According to the sources, Producer Vipul Shah of London Dreams had insisted her to wear skimpy costumes, which perturbed her a lot… But then again, ‘a rule is a rule’ says Asin, who has been persistently refusing the big offers merely because of such unfavourable scenarios.
Same Squad in Next 2 ODI against Aussie
The BCCI announced that the same Indian squad will be retained for the next two ODIs of the seven-match series against Australia.
National selection panel chairman Krishnamachari Srikkanth announced here after India’s 99-run victory in the second one-dayer that the same squad will play in Delhi (October 31) and Mohali (November 2).
“We have decided to retain the same squad for the next two ODIs in Delhi and Mohali,” Srikkanth said in the presence of BCCI joint secretary Sanjay Jagdale.
The two teams are tied 1-1 in the series after Australia won by a narrow four runs at Vadodara in the first match on Sunday.
The selection committee also announced a 14-member Board President’s XI squad led by Rohit Sharma for the three-day match against visiting Sri Lanka to be played in Mumbai from November 11-13.

Big Hitting by Dhoni

India 354 for 7 (Dhoni 124, Gambhir 76, Raina 62) beat Australia 255 (Hussey 53, Jadeja 3-35) by 99 runs
The match slipped out of Australia’s grasp in the final 11 overs of the Indian innings. When the batting Powerplay was taken with the scoreboard showing 238 for 4, the run-rate had dipped close to six. But with 47 coming from those five overs, and the mayhem continuing unabated afterwards, Ricky Ponting’s decision to bowl first in view of the dew factor didn’t look too clever. Peter Siddle bowled with impressive pace and accuracy, while Nathan Hauritz was tidy, but the rest were taken to the cleaners on a day when Dhoni appeared to rediscover his big-hitting mojo.
It was no one-man show though, with Gambhir contributing 76 from 80 balls and Raina lashing 62 from just 50 deliveries. When Gambhir departed, run out by a direct hit from Hauritz at mid-off after Dhoni had miscued a slower ball from Siddle, the stage was set for a final onslaught, but few could have predicted how devastating it would be. The first five overs of the Dhoni-Raina partnership produced just 22 runs, but from the moment Dhoni slugged Siddle though cover to end the first over of the Powerplay, the wheels came off for Australia.
Raina kept heaving Mitchell Johnson through midwicket, and with Dhoni slapping one straight down the ground, 18 came from the over. Ben Hilfenhaus’s return to the fray was greeted with an astonishing flat six over midwicket and two mighty wallops over long-off from the hapless Shane Watson took Dhoni to his century, his first against Australia, from just 94 balls.
Praveen didn’t start too well with the new ball, and it seemed that the mistakes of Vadodara were being repeated. But then he got a full delivery to swing and take the inside edge of Paine’s bat. The leg stump went cartwheeling and India were on their way. Conscious of the asking rate, Ponting got going with a lovely off-drive off Ashish Nehra, prompting Dhoni to bring Ishant on in the 10th over.
The very first ball he bowled reared up at Watson, and was fended off the face to Tendulkar at slip. As Watson walked off, angry words were exchanged. The potentially decisive blow came from the other end, as Praveen nipped one back to strike Ponting right in front. At 45 for 3, Australia were on the ropes.
Hussey revived the innings somewhat with three consecutive fours through the off side when Harbhajan was introduced, but when Cameron White’s stop-start innings ended with a tame clip to midwicket, the asking rate was on its way towards 10 an over. Ravindra Jadeja then bowled Hussey through the gate, bringing the curtain down on the contest long before the last ball was bowled.
Big B in danger
New controversy for Amitabh Bachchan. The superstar has been accused of violating an agreement to build a girls’ college in Barabanki, UP.
The college was announced by the superstar in January, 2008; he said it would be named after his daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. But now, Bachchan has reportedly re-gifted parts of that land to an NGO run by actor Jaya Prada, who’s also a Samajwadi Party MP.
The village head for Daulatpur accuses Bachchan of fraud and of re-gifting the land. The complaint also says that after an elaborate ceremony for the laying of the foundation stone, no progress has been made in constructing the college. Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya, Jaya Bachchan, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh had all attended the inauguration ceremony.
This is not the first time that this land has caused trouble for Bachchan. He was taken to court on the charges that Mulayam Singh Yadav had illegally allotted this land to him. The allotment was cancelled in court. Bachchan then bought land from local farmers in the area to set up the college. Many said this was his way of wiping the slate clean in Barabanki, after embarrassing corruption charges.
The District Magistrate has set up a special team to look into the complaint against Bachchan.
Were Lashkar Terrorists Targetting Rahul?
A mysterious ‘Rahul’ appears to have been the prime target of Chicago resident David Coleman Headley, nabbed by the FBI for planning to carry out a major terror attack in India this month at the behest of Pakistan-based LeT.
Headley, arrested earlier this month, had made several trips to India and intended to stay in the country for some time–two to four weeks–to execute the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) plans, according to US investigators.
49-year-old Headley was arrested alongwith a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin by FBI’s joint terrorism task force at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport before boarding a flight to Philadelphia, intending to travel to Pakistan.
According to an affidavit filed by FBI in a Chicago court, Headley in an e-mail on July eight to a senior LeT leader whose name has not been revealed but who has been identified as ‘LeT individual A’, said, “I think when we get a chance we should revisit our last location again and say Hi to Rahul”.
Following his arrest, Headley has stated that the reference was to “Rahul”, a prominent Indian actor with that first name, the FBI said in its complaint.
Intelligence sources in New Delhi discounted speculation that the reference could have been to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. In such cases, US security agencies immediately alert their Indian counterparts and there had been no such alert, the sources said.
The sources said that in the past US counter-terrorism agencies had tipped off India about the terror plots against VVIPs.
The sources wondered whether ‘Rahul’ was codename for some other VIP target. They are awaiting details of the FBI case in Chicago court.
US Ambassador to India Timothy Roemer refused to divulge details of the case saying, “we cannot comment on the ongoing investigations and judicial proceedings”. He described the arrest of the two persons by FBI as an “important breakthrough”.
Responding to Headley’s July 8 e-mail, the Lashkar leader said, “to see Rahul is a good idea coz (because) have some work for you over there too. Matters are good enough to move forward”.
Not satisfied with the response, Headley wrote back on July 9, “when you say ‘move forward’ do you mean in the north direction or towards Rahul ?” The leader clarified that move forward meant ‘towards Rahul’.
Headley wrote another mail to the leader on July 10 seeking clarifications on “status of the northern project” and whether the visit to “Rahul’s place” was for checking out “real estate property like before or something different”.

Secrets behind Vipul shah “London Dreams”

Vipul Shah’s London Dreams is making all the buzz this weekend with both Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan vying for Asin’s attention in the film. Asin couldn’t believe her stars when Vipul Shah approached her for the role of music enthusiast and dancer Priya in the film opposite Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan. “ I love Vipul’s cinema, he showcases emotions really well and his films always have strong music. So it was actually a no-brainer that I wanted to be a part of this project immediately on hearing its script.” Asin is a part of Ajay Devgn’s rock band London Dreams also consisting of Aditya Roy Kapoor and Rannvijay.
Ajay who secretly loves Priya is shocked when his close friend Salman who he invites to be a part of his band starts developing feelings for her.Asin felt at home while essaying the role of Priya, “I play a South Indian girl, who is emotional but strong willed and ambitious at the same time. And she has two radically different sides to her. At home she’s a traditional girl clad in Indian outfits but the minute she’s out with friends, she’s a fire brand, and that shows in the way she dresses. And she’s also partly responsible for the conflict between Salman and Ajay’s characters.” The conflict leading Ajay on a path of jealousy and pride when he sabotages his best friend Salman’s musical future only to realize the extent of his mistakes later. Asin described her co-stars saying, “Salman has a ‘bad boy’ image.
Many told me that he was very temperamental and erratic! Having worked with him I dispelled all those myths. I got to see a sensitive actor who had an absolute ball on the sets and went out of his way to make everyone comfortable. Both Ajay & Salman are also great offscreen friends and that shows on celluloid.”Vipul Shah was convinced on choosing Asin for his highly anticipated release after the success of Ghajini, ‘I had seen Asin’s work in several south Indian films and felt she was perfect for Priya’s part. After the success of Ghajini, I was convinced that I made the right decision. She’s only been a joy to work with and has excelled more than my expectations from her in the film.” He spoke of his leading lady.
When quizzed whether Asin goes with Salman in the movie, Vipul adds, ‘That would give away the climax of the film entirely which is bound to blow the audience away.” Early reports suggest may the best man win!
Lee and Hopes Out of Second One Day against India
Australia’s injury-hit bowling attack will be without Brett Lee and James Hopes on Wednesday after the pair was ruled out of the second ODI in Nagpur. Lee picked up a right elbow strain in Sunday’s opening win, while Hopes limped off with a hamstring problem.
There was serious doubt over Mitchell Johnson’s fitness as well, after the bowler had hurt his ankle, but Australia coach Tim Nielsen said at the pre-match press conference they were happy with how Johnson trained on the eve of the match and did not rule out his participation.
Moises Henriques, the New South Wales allrounder, has been called up as a standby until the fourth fixture; he will join the team in Delhi on Thursday, flying back to India a couple of days after returning to Australia following his side’s win in the Champions League Twenty20.
“With James Hopes’ right hamstring injury being more serious and likely to keep him out for at least the next two matches it is thought adding a standby player to the squad is a necessity,” Andrew Hilditch, the chairman of selectors, said on Tuesday. “Given the most significant injury appears to be Hopes’ hamstring we have taken this opportunity to add Moises to the squad until the completion of game four in Mohali, where we will again assess the situation before it is decided if he remains with the squad.”
Henriques was in a similar position during Australia’s series with Bangladesh last year and he played a Twenty20 against New Zealand in February. Stuart Clark, a New South Wales team-mate, predicted correctly at the weekend that Henriques, who was a strong Champions League performer, would be an Australian player as soon as a spot was available.
Hilditch was also impressed by Henriques’ work in India and during Australia A’s winter series against Pakistan A. “We view him as an exciting young allrounder who will be looking to make the most of this opportunity in India,” he said.
The injuries are a further blow to Australia’s patched up line-up, which is in the middle of a gruelling schedule. Michael Clarke, Brad Haddin, Callum Ferguson and Nathan Bracken were unavailable for this tour.
Indian Pilgrim Don’t Go Pak: Home Minister
As Pakistan witnesses a spurt in terror attacks, the Government on Tuesday issued a travel advisory asking Indian pilgrims against visiting that country.
“Government of India is of the view that it is not advisable for Indian pilgrims to visit Pakistan in the prevailing situation when frequent terrorist attacks are taking place in Punjab province of Pakistan, where all Gurudwaras are situated,” the advisory said.
The Home Ministry asked “all Indian citizens to avoid undertaking any visit to Pakistan for this purpose, till the security situation in Pakistan improves.”
Pakistan has faced a spate of terror attacks recently in which suspected Taliban militia have struck at key installations, including the Army headquarters in Rawalpindi and a nuclear base at Kamra.
The deluge of attacks has left more than 190 people dead this month.
India,China:Nothing to worry about?
The foreign ministers of India and China will aim to defuse tensions further when they meet on Tuesday in Bangalore.
The meeting comes just days after the prime ministers of both countries met in Thailand on the sidelines of the ASEAN meet and stressed on peace and tranquillity on the border.
The one-on-one between the Indian and Chinese foreign ministers will take place after a trilateral meeting with the Russian foreign minister.
A day before the meeting, Foreign Minister S M Krishna said that nothing is off the table, which means that the two sides will take up all issues including Arunachal, visas for Kashmiris, the Dalai Lama’s visit to Arunachal and several others over which the two sides have had a heated exchange of words.
Meanwhile, India’s Deputy Foreign Minister Shashi Tharoor says there’s nothing to worry about the meeting. “I think certainly things seem to be very good, the body language and the language used at the Prime Minister’s meeting with his Chinese counterpart, and certainly all the signals before the foreign minister meetings would suggest that there is nothing really to worry about. I always felt in any case that minor irritants in any case have been blown out of proportion in our rather enthusiastic media,” Tharoor said.
India essentially realises that Arunachal will continue to be an issue till the border dispute is resolved, as indicated by the PM while briefing the media after his meeting with Wen Jaiabao.
S M Krishna has restated India’s position that Tibet is an integral part of China, while the PM told his Chinese counterpart that the Dalai Lama is an honoured guest of India.
